A speeding Acura MDX launched through a New York intersection before crashing into scaffolding outside a Buffalo Wild Wings
The MDX soared past a white Audi Q7 and a Prius mid-air. Police are still working to determine what caused the crash. Remarkably, no one was injured in the Hollywood-style crash. Pedestrians and passing drivers in White Plains had an extremely close call earlier this week when an Acura MDX came hurtling through an intersection and launched into the air before slamming into a Buffalo Wild Wings building.
The crash happened Monday afternoon near the intersection of Main Street and Mamaroneck Avenue, and the entire sequence was caught on camera shared by the White Plains PD. The footage shows a silver MDX rushing toward the junction at speed, blasting straight through the intersection before clipping a curb. That impact sends the SUV airborne, lifting it clear off the road. After flying across the road, the Acura smashed into an area of scaffolding outside a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant. Remarkably, there were at least five pedestrians standing at the intersection who came within only a few feet of being struck by the car. In addition, the MDX somehow managed to avoid collecting a white Audi Q7 and a white Toyota Prius taxi that were approaching the intersection. https://youtu.be/TLkZ2tMjsJU Emergency crews arrived quickly after the crash, but clearing the wrecked SUV proved far less straightforward. The Acura remained lodged outside the building for hours as responders worked around the damaged structure and surrounding debris. Nearly four hours passed before recovery crews were finally able to remove the vehicle from the site. The elderly man who had been driving the SUV was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. “The scaffolding definitely added some complications to everything,” John Halliday from RJT Motorist Services told News12 after the crash. “You know, we wanted to make sure everything was safe, nothing came crashing down.” Police are continuing to investigate the incident and have not yet determined whether a fault with the vehicle contributed to the crash, whether driver error was involved, or whether the driver may have experienced a medical episode.
