Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, on Tuesday threatened New York Attorney General Letitia James with a subpoena over what he describes as the “politically motivated” prosecution of former President Donald Trump. The representative in May sent a letter demanding information about Matthew Colangelo, who used to work for James and a slew of other high-ranking prosecutors. Colangelo gave the opening statements in Trump’s Manhattan hush money trial last month. His history of working on cases associated with Trump reveal a possible political motivation, Rep. Jordan claims.
“Mr. Colangelo’s recent employment history demonstrates his obsession with investigating a person rather than prosecuting a crime,” Rep. Jordan“On May 15, 2024, we wrote to you requesting information and documents related to prosecutor Matthew Colangelo’s prior employment at the New York Attorney General’s Office,” Rep. Jordan wrote. “The Committee asked that you provide this information by May 29, 2024. To date, you have failed to comply with or respond to our request.
