NXT, WWE’s developmental program, will return to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night for the go-home show before the “Stand and Deliver” professional

NXT, WWE’s developmental program, will return to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night for the go-home show before the “Stand and Deliver” professional wrestling live-streaming event scheduled for Saturday, April 4.

NXT world champion Joe Hendry is set to defend his belt in a fatal-4-way match against Ricky Saints, Ethan Page and Tony D’Angelo in the main event of “Stand and Deliver.” The four superstars will put pen to paper and make their match official during Tuesday’s contract signing. Hendry will undoubtedly have a target on his back going into what will be his third title defense. “It’s an indescribable feeling. It’s what you dream about being the champion of your brand. It’s a huge honor and privilege to do it,” Hendry told amNewYork. “I wasn’t shy about wanting that. When you get into wrestling, you have to say, ‘I want to be the champion. How do I become the champion?’ And that’s what I love about the NXT system because when I joined, I was asking those questions and they gave me the pathway of what I’m going to have to do on my end to make that happen.”Hendry won the title in a seven-man ladder match to claim his first championship. He has successfully defended his belt twice, but will be put to the task of defending it against three former champions.“When you’re the champion, I’m not the one who needs to prove something. I’ve proven that I can win when it counts. That’s what people need to understand about sports and professional wrestling. This is all about being able to beat the best on a given date and time,” Hendry said. Saints, on the other hand, has his sights set on becoming a two-time NXT champion. He’s won gold once, but came up short against Hendry in his latest attempt to reclaim his spot at the top of the men’s roster. “The goal for me is to stay concentrated on winning the NXT championship. I need to be a two-time NXT champion because that puts me in a very small list of people who have been a two-time champion,” Saints said. D’Angelo, meanwhile, is looking to win his first world title following a brief stint away from the squared circle. He said the time away helped “find a whole new perspective on life” with “a bunch of new motivating factors.” This makes him believe that he can set himself apart from the other three competitors.A Fatal 4-Way match is one of the more challenging matches because four superstars are fighting to win the same championship. But it comes with the benefit of not having to pin the champion to capture the title. “I’m just going to worry about me. I like that there are three other dudes in this match because right now it’s been about chaos. This is a perfect way to make sure that I’m getting all these other guys out of their element,” D’Angelo explained. Women’s champion Jacy Jayne will defend her championship at “Stand and Deliver.” Her opponent has yet to be named, but will be determined in a number-one-contender match between Lola Vice and Kendal Grey on Tuesday. “I’ve beaten both of them already, so my strategy is to do exactly what I did the first time. Go in, whip some butt and walk out as champion,” Jayne told amNewYork. With NXT being held in New York, all of the superstars were asked about what their favorite aspect of competing in The Big Apple is. Some talked about the cuisine, including bagels and pizza, while others discussed some of their favorite places to visit.“I love Times Square. Back from before I was a wrestler, I remember being at Times Square and looking up. I had all these dreams and aspirations and I got to go back to Times Square to take a picture once I felt I had achieved those aspirations,” Hendry said. “To compare the two, it really embodied the American dream.” When asked about competing in front of passionate New York wrestling fans, all of the superstars showed their appreciation for them. “By far the fans. New York is a very important part of wrestling history. I don’t think without New York and its fans that wrestling would be where it is today,” Saints said. “I love the fans, the city, the energy this place gives us, so every time we’re back, I’m so thrilled and over the moon about it.” Those same fans will surely show their appreciation for these NXT superstars during Tuesday’s show at Madison Square Garden ahead of “Stand and Deliver.”AEW star Hook on wrestling roots, acting passion and rise across two industriesUnion workers, Council members urge Mamdani to fully fund city’s labor watchdog agency as budget deficit fears grow‘No War, No ICE, No Kings’: Hundreds Rally in the Bronx for No Kings DayNYPD officer shoots and kills pit bull after animal attacks owner in Queens: copsBrooklyn Paper
