Rumours have it that NVIDIA's next-generation GPU architecture, Blackwell, will be the first to introduce GDDR7 memory, and the GeForce RTX 50 Series will be the first series to lead the charge with said memory standard.

GDDR6 memory is undoubtedly getting on in age. The memory standard was first and formally introduced in 2018, with the launch of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 20 Series, which in turn was also the inaugural introduction of the RTX Series to the world. The RTX 2080 Ti, in particular, was the only model at the time to be fitted with the more powerful GDDR6X memory. So, it makes sense that NVIDIA would want to introduce GDDR7 with the upcoming RTX 50 Series.
