Saskatchewan\u0027s Union of Nurses says it wants the government and other stakeholders to sit down and hash out a solution to a staff shortage.

Dick said union brass has had discussions about what can be done. In the union’s view, the government needs to acknowledge there is a nursing shortage and that it is a problem, not just in Saskatchewan but Canada-wide. Nurses work anywhere from eight to 12 hour shifts, and could sometimes work even longer days. Some nurses pick up shifts for 10 or more consecutive days in a row and that’s not sustainable, Dick said.Article content
Dick said SUN president Tracy Zambory recently spoke with Premier Scott Moe. The union is waiting for the premier’s office to reach out so they can begin a dialogue, Dick added.
