Nur-ul Afida is Bernama’s first female editor-in-chief

She takes over the post from Jamaluddin Muhammad, who was appointed as the news agency’s CEO on Oct 19.

Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin had held several key positions in Bernama, including as deputy editor-in-chief of news services since June this year.

KUALA LUMPUR: The national news agency Bernama today announced the appointment of Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin as its new editor-in-chief, effective immediately. Nur-ul, 56, also created history as the first woman ever appointed to hold the position at the news agency since its establishment in 1967. Nur-ul takes over the post from Jamaluddin Muhammad, who was appointed as the agency’s CEO on Oct 19.

In lauding the appointment, Jamaluddin said Nur-ul had extensive experience in the field of journalism and had held several key positions in Bernama, including as deputy editor-in-chief of news services since June this year.
