IPOH: The number of people allowed to perform their prayers in mosques and surau in Perak will be based on the standard operating procedures (SOP) and capacity of the prayer halls.
Perak Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council chief executive officer Sharul Azam Shaari said Sultan Nazrin Shah had consented to allow more people to perform prayers in mosques and surau after consultation with the state Fatwa Committee."The number of people allowed will depend on the capacity of the main prayer hall, and they must maintain a 1m distance between one another.Their identities must be first checked and recorded before being allowed into the prayer hall.
Shahrul also said the Azan, as recited by the bilal, would return to normal and they would no longer need to read out the phrase “al-Salatu fi buyutikum” . "Mosque and surau officials are to give reminders and simple explanations on guidelines to those coming to pray before each prayer session. "All must observe the SOP as set by the National Security Council and Health Ministry," he said, adding that the Islamic Religious Department would issue a guideline and the latest method for more people to perform their prayers.
