National University got off to a rousing start in UAAP Season 86 men's basketball, taking down defending champion, 77-64, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, September 30.

Leading the Blue Eagles, 55-47, entering the final frame, the Bulldogs unleashed a 15-3 run capped by a Patrick Yu trey to seize an insurmountable 70-50 lead in the last 3:56.

Defense did the trick for NU as it held Ateneo scoreless for the 6:23 in the fourth canto, with Sean Quetevis only delivering the Blue Eagles first field goal in the quarter with 3:37 to go.Steve Nash Enriquez dropped 10 points and two assists to lead the Bulldogs' balanced-attack.
