Jennifer Homendy said a small team boarded the vessel late Tuesday night.

Teams have recovered the recorder from the container ship that crashed into a Baltimore bridge on Tuesday, National Transportation Safety Board Chair Jennifer Homendy tells WGAL.“We have the data recorder. So, we’ve sent that to our lab and we hope to be able to share a timeline of events that did occur based on that data, and be able to provide some sort of concrete information about whether there was a power outage or not later today,” Homendy said in an interview with WGAL’s Jay Scott Smith.

Their focus is to get all the perishable evidence they need before the scene is cleared. Then they’ll begin to identify who they need to interview. Homendy said she expects those interviews to begin Wednesday.Homendy said NTSB teams will probably remain on site for around five days.“It’s pretty complex. It was a big traffic event and multimodal. We have the highway structure, the bridge and then of course we have the vessel operations,” she said.
