Ms Berejiklian – who had shied away from making masks mandatory - said the "science of the pandemic was far from perfect" but that imposing mask restrictions now would reduce the risk of transmission in the community. "This is a crucial decision – particularly as more people will be returning to work after the holidays and trains and buses become increasingly crowded," president chapter Dr Danielle McMullen said.
