However, by the weekend, the party, under the stewardship of president Don Harwin, had started pointing the finger at the NSW Electoral Commission. While admitting an error had occurred, the commission insisted the nominations deadline had been well-publicised since last year and it refused the Liberals' pleas for leniency.
He said any judge hearing the matter would have had to consider the disruption the Liberals' request would cause to the electoral process."Every passing day just makes it harder to unscramble that egg.
