Cashless gaming cards and rent controls are on the list of demands if Labor wants the Greens’ support in the event of a minority government.

The Greens’ demands include: ensuring no new coal or gas, ending logging of public native forests, and the introduction of a mandatory cashless gambling card.

The Greens’ demand for gambling reform means at least seven likely crossbenchers in the lower house have made a digital gaming card a condition of their support in the event of a hung parliament, which Labor and the Coalition see as a likely outcome on March 25. Greens MP and lead upper house candidate Cate Faehrmann said the party was aiming to have at least seven MPs across both houses after the election.“We are in a strong position to be able to negotiate outcomes for the community and the environment in the event that no party is able to form majority government,” Faehrmann said.

Newtown MP Jenny Leong said the Greens would not support a Coalition government but “our support for a Minns Labor government comes with clear expectations about the change people want to see”.
