The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it has issued former president Jacob Zuma with a certificate indicating he could pursue a private prosecution against state prosecutor Adv Billy Downer SC.

The NPA said in a statement on Tuesday that it will not be deterred by attacks emanating from the rich and powerful in its quest to bring them to book for serious economic crimes. certificate was handed out by the director of public prosecutions in KwaZulu-Natal.certificate is issued when the prosecuting authority has declined to prosecute in a particular case to a party that has an interest to pursue private prosecution.
