PETALING JAYA: Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman says he has been called in by Bukit Aman for questioning over an interview he gave to Al-Jazeera on March 6.
The Muar MP and former minister said he was informed that the case is investigated under Section 4 of the Sedition Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
“I have been called by Bukit Aman to give details on an investigation on my interview with Mehdi Hasan .On March 8, Syed Saddiq appeared on the programme UpFront, where he voiced disappointment with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for allegedly betraying Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s principles by choosing to choose with “the kleptocrats”.
Meanwhile, another former Pakatan Harapan minister, Hannah Yeoh, is also being investigated for sedition over a tweet on child marriages. The Segambut MP and former deputy women, family and community development minister is expected to be questioned by Bukit Aman on June 23.
