Japan’s Air Force One private 747 state residence is on public display.
. The exhibition formally opened on June 5 with appropriate COVID-19 social distancing measures.
The interior parts, even walls, were removed from the 747 at a Tokyo hangar before it and its sister ship were sold to a U.S. company for re-marketing. While many countries have a single state aircraft, Japan had two almost identical 747s , as the U.S. still does.After the 747s were decommissioned, the interiors were shown to media .
The 747s operated Japanese state missions from 1993 to 2019, achieving 100 missions in 2002, 200 in 2008 and 300 in 2015, according to the Ministry of Defense.
