A new study suggests that benralizumab, a drug administered as an injection, could be a breakthrough treatment for asthma and COPD flare-ups, reducing treatment failure rates compared to traditional steroid treatments.
For decades, the standard treatment for potentially life-threatening episodes has been steroids like prednisolone. However, these drugs don't work for everyone and have serious side effects. A new study published in The Lancet Respiratory Medicine reveals that benralizumab, administered as an injection, could be a breakthrough treatment.
The study, involving 158 patients with asthma or COPD flare-ups, found that benralizumab alone or in combination with prednisolone reduces treatment failure rates within 90 days
