A bit of a different crowd...
So Solid Crew’s gigs look a little different nowadays When they released 21 Seconds in 2001, So Solid Crew probably never imagined they’d be performing at a rave for babies two decades on. Yet, here they are! The garage chart-toppers played to a very different crowd this week after being asked to be special guests at the Ministry of Sound for the daytime rave.
So Solid Crew first emerged from the south London pirate radio scene and achieved mainstream success in the 2000s, including with their album They Don’t Know. The hip-hop collective has since been credited for being pioneers in the UK music scene. They acquired a fanbase for flipping garage music on its head, turning it from a dancey genre to one that was darker and more MC-oriented. So Solid Crew is a large group, initially boasting 19 members before expanding to 30.
