The event has been beset by problems

A group of Nottinghamshire scouts are among thousands to have been evacuated from an international event in South Korea. Organisers of the World Scout Jamboree ended the event early on Monday, August 7, because of an incoming typhoon.

They were relocated to accommodation in the capital, Seoul, where they will stay until they fly home on the originally planned date of Sunday, August 13. A spokesperson for Scouts UK said they were "perfectly safe".In a Facebook post on Friday, August 4, the Nottinghamshire group said they were "gutted" to be evacuated. "Whilst we haven’t had any major direct issues, others have, and UKC have to consider the welfare of all UK Units," they stated.

In an update on Sunday, the group said they would be able to stay in the same hotel until Friday, August 11. "The Unit is fully refreshed, fed and showered! We have been told we are in the same hotel until 11 August which is brilliant news as we can plan our Seoul adventure without uncertainty of hotel moves," reads the post.

"But it's not over yet, there is still time for more adventures, life long friendships and memories to be made."
