The home of Robin Hood has been named one of the top tourist attractions in England. Sherwood Forest ranked tenth in a league table topped by Buckingham Palace and dominated by London landmarks.
Sherwood Forest, the legendary stomping ground of Robin Hood and his Merry Men and home to the 1,000-year-old Major Oak, attracts around 350,000 visitors a year. As well as the forest, there's a visitor centre, trails, events and cabins for overnight stays. Sherwood Forest came higher than other popular landmarks including Blackpool Tower, Cheddar Gorge, Warwick Castle and the Eden Project in Cornwall.
