1 restaurant is staying open just so people can use the air con 🙌
If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen has taken on a literal meaning this week as temperatures continue to soar. With a blistering 37°C predicted today and even hotter tomorrow, up to 40°C, some pubs and restaurants across Nottinghamshire won't be opening.
Owner Olly Hunter said it's pretty hot in the kitchen at any time. In an "apocalyptic weather update" on Facebook he said: "Due to the predictions of dangerous heat we will be closed for normal service on Tuesday."But instead we will be turning on the air con and inviting anyone along who wants to hang out and cool down for a bit. A ‘cool bank’ if you will. Feel free to bring your own refreshments or even a picnic dinner . No charge, all welcome.
Meanwhile, the doors will be closed at the the Kilpin Beer Cafe and Junkyard, in Bridlesmith Walk. Owner Nigel Garlick said: "Due to the extreme heat forecasted on Monday and Tuesday we have decided to close both our venues. We feel it would be in the best interests of our staff to not have to work in those conditions."
