Nottingham has been named as the most dangerous UK city to drive in, with nearly 7,000 collisions in the years 2013-20. A study by car leasing company Nationwide Vehicle Contracts found that the city suffered 6,848 incidents in the time period, putting it top of the list of dangerous cities for road users.
With a population of just 337,100, its rate of collisions was slightly ahead of Birmingham, which boasts a population of more than a million people. Other cities in the top 10 most dangerous UK cities to drive in were Bournemouth, Liverpool, Bristol, Sheffield, Leeds, Leicester, Manchester and Glasgow.
The company's data revealed that in dry conditions, a total of 167,000 accidents occurred in total across the UK while, in the wet, there were fewer crashes with around 60,000. During daylight hours, the study showed there were estimated to be around 165,000 collisions with 61,000 taking place in the dark.In Nottingham, the highest number of collisions happened during fine weather conditions, a total of 702.
