PETALING JAYA: Singapore’s men’s singles shuttler Loh Kean Yew (pic) is satisfied with his overall progress despite not managing to hit the heights that took him to the World Championships title in 2021.

Kean Yew, who is currently ranked No. 8 in the world, is still trying to rediscover his best form since becoming the first Singaporean to capture the world title. His best result since then was finishing runners-up in the Indian Open last year.

“Last year was technically my first year of playing in the top tier World Tour events, and I made quite a lot of quarter-finals and a few semi-finals, and a final, so that was quite okay, considering that it was my first time handling this kind of calendar and intensity,” said Kean Yew in a recent interview with the Badminton World Federation .

“The pressure is part and parcel of the sport, this is what we need to handle when we win major titles.“It wasn’t easy, but I learnt something throughout,” added Kean Yew, who was ranked as high as No. 3 last November.
