He sold his house to a company that does 'sale leasebacks,' promising to rid people of tax obligations while allowing them to remain in their homes.

CINCINNATI - An 80-year-old veteran is living on the streets after getting evicted from his home of 27 years.

Meisberger sold the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in September of 2022 to a company that offered sale leasebacks, promising to buy his house at a competitive price, relieve him of property taxes, insurance, and upkeep, and allowing him to stay in the home as long as he wants. He's now living behind a laundromat in a car he bought for $2,000 from the sale of his home. He lives there with his daughter, step-son, and two dogs. The rest of the money from the sale went to back taxes, credit card bills, and attorney fees.“Most everyone I know has done passed away but me,” said Meisberger. “I look everyday to hope that I go too. I just don’t have nothing to live for man.”"They're targeting the elderly community," said Morgan.
