No harm in being ruthless for the team
A Nobel Peace Prize is not on Daniel Farke ’s agenda, for this season at least. None of Leeds United’s substitutes were introduced until the 84th minute of Saturday’s win at Cardiff City, but the manager makes no apologies to his bench for their lack of action.
The German was concerned any changes in personnel might throw off the territory and possession his team were commanding, despite the narrow scoreline. Farke made no apologies for making his back-ups wait for their moment. “I'm there to win football games and, today, it just felt we don't give one chance away. I can't change too much in order to risk, perhaps in a more offensive-minded line-up or there's also different types of players in the offence, then to risk too much in order also to offer something at the back.”
“We switched after 80 minutes,” he said. “Jayden Bogle had a yellow card already. Sometimes, a referee, when he gives a red card for the different team, out of sympathy, also gives a decision in their favour and I didn't want to risk anything.
