IPOH: A 46-year-old man has been ordered to pay RM3,000 in default five months' jail for breaking the sliding glass door of his former wife's house in Taman Pinji Indah here.

The penalty was imposed by Magistrate S. Punintha when Mohd Shariman Zul Kapri pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him in court on Monday .Mohd Shariman was said to have used a hoe to break the sliding glass door of Salina Sidit's house in Pinji Indah Dua at about 9am on April 2.Before sentencing, deputy public prosecutor Nurul Hidayu Zakaria asked the court to impose a heavier fine.

Lawyer G. Harbhajan Singh, who represented Mohd Shariman, requested a lower amount, saying his client regretted his action and promised not to do it again. “My client is only working as a welder with a monthly salary of about RM1,800 and is looking after a seven-year-old child," he added. Mohd Shariman was also slapped with another charge under Section 15 of the Dangerous Drugs Act for consuming methamphetamine at about 6.15pm on April 5.Punitha set bail at RM2,000 and June 16 for mention while waiting for a pathology report.Deputy Public Prosecutor Fatin Hosna Mohamad Zikri prosecuted.
