MELAKA: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry is facing a shortage of enforcement officers, especially those with expertise in cybercrime, says its Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid.
However, he said the ministry is looking into ways of filling the vacuum of specialised enforcement officers.Rosol said the ministry is hoping to “flood” the enforcement unit with professionals because their job scope was getting more challenging, and to also more properly reflect the nation’s population.
“We need experts to deal with contemporary fraud such as Internet scams involving huge amounts of money, ” he said at a ceremony marking 37 new KP41 grade officers and delivering the Minister’s mandate at Tanjung Bidara in Masjid Tanah here Tuesday . The event was also witnessed by the Ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad and its enforcement director Datuk Iskandar Halim Sulaiman.
Meanwhile, Rosol also cautioned enforcement officers to keep away from corrupt practices and to not abuse their power.Article type: metered
