: Not all online content taken down including on TikTok in the country were made based on the applications of the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission or the government of Malaysia, said Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching.
“This means that not all requests to take down content are made by MCMC or the Malaysian Government,“ she said at the winding up session of the Annual Report and Financial Statements of the Human Rights Commission Act 2021 and 2022 for the Ministry of Communications in the Dewan Rakyat today. She said if there is any content that has been taken down by a social media platform provider, users are advised to contact the relevant social media platform provider directly to find out the justification for the removal.
