JOHANNESBURG - Former Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula is the ANC's candidate for National Assembly speaker.
Her nomination follows last week’s announcements of changes to the National Executive by President Cyril Ramaphosa.She served as defence minister from June 2012 to August 2021. As Defence Minister Mapisa-Nqakula contradicted the President when he labelled the unrest last month as an insurrection, saying there was no coup.For Immediate Release
