A short time later – at 4:10 p.m. – the male fled in his vehicle and a Northport officer was injured while trying to stop him, Carpenter said. He did not say how the officer was injured.
The vehicle was stopped on Union Chapel Road near Martin Road, and the suspect was taken into custody. His name and charges haven’t been released. The Northport officer was transported to DCH Tuscaloosa for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the case.
