A security threat prompted the evacuation of NorthPark Center in Dallas on Wednesday afternoon.A spokesperson for NorthPark Center said the mall received a security threat and was evacuated out of an abundance of caution.

Dallas police conducted a thorough sweep of the property and found nothing harmful.The mall reopened around 3:15 p.m."The safety of our guests and employees is always our top priority. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and patience and we commend the Dallas Police Department for their swift response," NorthPark Center said in a statement.Dallas police responded to the mall in the 8600 block of North Central Expressway around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday because of a "security incident."Police encouraged people to avoid the area.NorthPark Center also confirmed a fire alarm was activated, and the mall was evacuated.Images from the SKY 4 helicopter showed people standing outside the mall as officers redirected nearby traffic.The mall did not release any details about the nature of the security threat.
