Strong to severe storms are predicted for western Utah on Sunday in the afternoon and evening, with the main threats being large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain, the weather service said. Scattered thunderstorms could develop in southwestern Utah on Sunday afternoon. Since soils are already saturated, any heavy rain could bring flash flooding to slot canyons, normally dry washes and areas near recent burn scars, the weather service said.
