TACLOBAN CITY – To ensure enough nurses in Northern Samar, the Provincial Board has approved on third and final reading an ordinance giving scholarships to nursing students on Friday, September 15.
The ordinance entitled An Ordinance Creating the Provincial Government of Northern Samar Nursing Scholarship Program or PGNS-NSP will give scholarships to less-privileged and qualified students.
Aside from addressing the shortage of nurses, the program also aims to provide quality health service to the people of the province. The ordinance authored by Provincial Board Member Gilbert Layon, committee on health chair, will support nursing students until they review for the board exam. In return, they will serve government hospitals after hurdling the exam.
Aside from nursing students, the provincial government has also been providing scholarships for medicine students.
