They said, with the exception of a few small spot fires, containment lines held. The area will see a slow cooling trend beginning early next week, with temperatures expected to fall to near or below seasonal norms, according to officials. Fire officials say their damage inspection teams have completed their assessments. Between both Butte and Tehama counties, 641 structures were destroyed and 52 were damaged as of Sunday.Cal Fire arson investigators and the Butte County District Attorney’s Office said a man was arrested in connection to starting the blaze. The man was allegedly seen pushing a car that was on fire into a gully at Alligator Hole, where the fire started, officials said.
The man, identified as Ronnie Stout, 42, of Chico, appeared in court July 29, where the judge ultimately ruled that Stout would remain in custody with no option for bail.
