Gemma Jolly, 45, from Desborough, is working with Kettering General Hospital to spread awareness during Organ Donation Week
A Northamptonshire woman has had three liver transplants due to an auto-immune disease. Gemma Jolly, 45, from Desborough, is working with Kettering General Hospital’s Organ and Tissue Donation Committee.
“Unfortunately that didn’t go well and I needed a second transplant in 2019, for which I was on the list for about six months. My third transplant was in March 2021 after I was on the transplant list again for about 11 months. The operation, and Gemma’s recovery, has gone well and the family are hoping to be able to take their first overseas holiday next year for Mike’s 50th birthday. Gemma said: “Being on the transplant waiting list is very difficult. You have to keep a phone with you all of the time and tell the transplant co-ordinators where you are going and how long it will take.
