North Korea has vehemently condemned Secretary of State Marco Rubio's designation of the country as a 'rogue state,' calling the statement 'nonsense' and pledging to respond forcefully to any provocations from the U.S. government. Rubio made the remark during an interview, highlighting the challenges of U.S. foreign policy in a multipolar world.

North Korea has strongly denounced Secretary of State Marco Rubio's characterization of the country as a 'rogue state,' calling his remarks 'nonsense' and vowing to retaliate against any provocations from the Trump administration. Rubio made the statement last week during an interview on 'The Megyn Kelly Show,' discussing the goals of U.S. foreign policy. He stated, 'It’s not normal for the world to simply have a unipolar power. That was not – that was an anomaly.

It was a product of the end of the Cold War, but eventually you were going to reach back to a point where you had a multipolar world, multi-great powers in different parts of the planet. We face that now with China and to some extent Russia, and then you have rogue states like Iran and North Korea you have to deal with.' The North Korean Foreign Ministry responded with a statement published by state media, condemning Rubio's words as a 'grave political provocation' and asserting that they 'thoughtlessly tarnish the image of a sovereign state.' The statement continued, 'Rubio's coarse and nonsensical remarks only show directly the incorrect view of the new U.S. administration on the DPRK and will never help promote the U.S. interests as he wishes.' North Korea vowed to 'take tough counteraction' to any U.S. provocation, emphasizing their unwavering stance against what they perceive as hostility from the United States. Rubio, during his interview, stressed the importance of balancing U.S. national interests with the need to avoid war and armed conflict. He highlighted the devastating consequences of global conflict in the 20th century and warned of the potential for even greater destruction in the present day, given the nuclear capabilities of multiple nations. He emphasized the delicate balance between pursuing national interests and preventing catastrophic global conflict. 'And it sounds like hyperbole, but that’s – you have multiple countries now who have the capability to end life on Earth. And so we need to really work hard to avoid armed conflict as much as possible, but never at the expense of our national interest. So that’s the tricky balance,' Rubio concluded
