North Dakota Bans Gender Affirming Care for Minors

The state passed House Bill 1254, which bans all gender affirming care for minors in the state, and includes felony and misdemeanor charges for doctors who provide services.

Multiple outlets report that North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has issued a sweeping ban on gender-affirming care for minors, despite pushback from doctors, mental health professionalsand advocates in the state.reports that House Bill 1254, sponsored by State Rep. Bill Tveit, states that any doctor who performs "sex reassignment surgeries on minors" are guilty of a Class B felony, which includes up to 10 years in prison as well as a $20,000 fine.
