An 18-year-old man from North Carolina was arrested and charged with multiple felonies after allegedly engaging in illegal activities with a juvenile in Portsmouth, Ohio.

A North Carolina man, Braceon Madison, 18, of Laurinberg, has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies after allegedly engaging in illegal activities with a juvenile in Portsmouth, Ohio. Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said his office was first contacted on January 13, 2025, by a woman reporting a juvenile runaway. A deputy responded and gathered information for a report. The preliminary investigation revealed that the juvenile had been in contact with Madison.

Two days later, deputies received information that the runaway juvenile and Madison were spotted at a Burger King in Wheelersburg. Deputies located them, and the juvenile female was taken to the Southern Ohio Medical Center for evaluation. The initial contact with Madison did not provide probable cause for an arrest, but deputies collected the necessary information to continue their investigation and released him. As detectives were working on the case, they were informed that Madison had shown up at the hospital requesting to see the girl. Detectives responded and detained him as he was leaving the hospital. After interviewing the child and her parents, they discovered Madison and the teen girl met through Facebook in December. After maintaining contact, Madison traveled by bus from North Carolina to Portsmouth. He later snuck into the girl's home and the pair left. Investigators say the two stayed in a building on Ohio River Road for a few nights before being found. Sheriff Thoroughman said detectives learned that the male had taken videos and pictures on his phone of the juvenile participating in sexual acts. Braceon Madison is charged with eight counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, a second-degree felony. He is currently in the Scioto County Jail on a $250,000 bond. Sheriff Thoroughman stated the investigation is ongoing and will likely result in additional charges being presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury at a later date
