Deputies responded to the campsite on Southeast Homestead Valley Road on May 13 when Braiden Wilson, 28, called 911 to report he had just been shot.
A federal grand jury has indicted a North Bend couple on multiple charges after investigators found a cache of fentanyl, illegal guns and explosives inside their motorhome at a campground off Interstate 90 earlier this month.
Wilson was taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter and investigators began talking to his girlfriend, Chandler Bennett, 30, who had witnessed the shooting, according to charging documents. Bennett allegedly told deputies they did not have permission to enter the motorhome and she left the scene to go to the hospital with Wilson.
"Deputies informed all parties that they were not permitted to enter the motorhome, and that it was an active crime scene," detectives wrote in a police report. "During the discussion, Wilson insisted that he needed to enter the motorhome and an altercation followed, which led to a deputy deploying a taser to control Wilson.
