The highly contagious stomach bug norovirus is seeing a surge in cases across the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports a significant increase in outbreaks, with 91 cases recorded in the first week of December, compared to 69 the week before. The virus spreads through contact with infected individuals, contaminated surfaces, or food and drinks. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, body aches, headache, and fever. Experts believe crowding and low humidity contribute to the wintertime rise in cases. While there's no specific medication, doctors emphasize the importance of handwashing, hydration, and disinfecting surfaces to prevent its spread.
