CLEVELAND, Ohio – Less than a month after a disastrous train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio,, Norfolk Southern plans to create a regional training center for first responders from Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
“These commitments are the direct result of my conversations with Gov. DeWine and other leaders, all to better support our first responders and their communities,” Norfolk Southern President and CEO Alan Shaw said in the company’s written announcement. Norfolk Southern said it will start training classes at the railroad’s yard in Bellevue, Ohio, while it determines where to locate a permanent location.
