❄️ Models are varying greatly on how much snow falls on the Philadelphia region this weekend. BillHenleyUSA has your latest FirstAlertWeather forecast, including a look at the two tracks the nor'easter could take.
Models as of early Thursday continued to disagree on the exact track of the developing storm. The farther off shore the storm stays, the less snow that should be expected farther inland.
Here is what we know, so far, about the windy coastal storm and the potential for snowfall late Friday and Saturday. The nor'easter had yet to form as of Thursday morning, but it is expected to do so later and race up the East Coast. For the next couple days expect cold conditions ahead of the storm. Models are starting to come together in showing light snow starting as a cold front moves through Friday night and then a coastal storm intensifying as it moves up the coast starting early Saturday morning. Winds should pick up and gust up to 40 mph on Saturday.
A winter storm watch has been issued Friday night through Saturday night for Philadelphia, the immediate suburbs and points east and south. Temperatures should be cold enough for just snow to fall, but how much remains unclear as models continue to vary on the track and totals. Should the storm stay farther off the coast then the Jersey Shore, Delaware coast and neighborhoods closer to the Atlantic Ocean would get the most snow. Several inches are possible close to the coast, with less expected as you move farther inland.
