Citing mounting injuries, Hudson Catholic will not play again during the 2023 season
A Non-Public football team playing in one of the top division in the state is ending its season having played just two games.
“For the best interest and the health and safety of our student-athletes, we decided to suspend the season and we will pick up on working on for next season going forward,” Mariniello told NJ Advance Media. “We have a number of kids that are hurt. The reason that we decided to suspend the season is because I can’t guarantee you right now that kids are not going to get hurt with health and safety precautions playing football.
“We have a large number of football players that have been hurt and injured,” Mariniello said. “As a competitor, I would love to play, but as a leader of this athletic department, I can’t in good faith put kids out there knowing they are going to get hurt. And we’ve had kids get hurt every week since we’ve played.”
