Less than 5% of the movies included in the Library of Congress' National Film Registry center on Latino stories, says San Antonio's U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro.
Calling all San Antonio cinephiles: U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro again is asking the public to suggest Latino movies for the Library of Congress' National Film Registry . The registry is supposed to provide snapshots of American life and culture, but less than 5% of the current titles focus on Latino stories, according to a release from Castro.
Previous films nominated by Castro that have not made the registry include cult classic 'Blood In Blood Out' and 'Like Water for Chocolate' . Related: 'Blood In Blood Out' with San Antonio's Jesse Borrego available to stream on Hulu There are 875 films on the registry now, and 25 enter it each year. To be considered, movies must be at least 10 years old.
