Julian Assange has received wide praise following his plea deal which will see him free to return to Australia, but while Tuesday's outcome has been welcomed, the Wikileaks founder has not been spared criticism for his role in leaking tranches of classified national security documents.

Sky News host Chris Kenny has decried Julian Assange as someone"nobody should feel sorry for" as the Wikileaks founder leaves prison to return to Australia. Julian Assange has received wide praise following his plea deal which will see him free to return to Australia, but while Tuesday's outcome has been welcomed, the Wikileaks founder has not been spared criticism for his role in leaking tranches of classified national security documents.

Upon the news of Mr Assange’s release, Sky News Australia host Chris Kenny unleashed on the Wikileaks founder telling viewers there should be little sympathy for him. He said Tuesday's result was the"right outcome" before praising the Albanese government and Biden administration for doing the"right thing" in pushing the case along.

“The trouble is I expect that once he gets back here, he’ll probably do what Hicks did, and repudiate his own guilty plea,” Kenny said. Kenny believes Mr Assange will go the path of David Hicks who had his conviction overturned as the law he was convicted under didn't exist at the time he committed his crime.

Julian Assange boards flight at London Stansted Airport at 5PM Monday June 24th. This is for everyone who worked for his freedom: thank you. This included military logs, about a quarter of a million diplomatic cables and footage of a US airstrike in Baghdad.
