Doctor Octopus almost had a comics-accurate costume in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as new concept art reveals an alternative look for Alfred Molina.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT As more concept art from Spider-Man: No Way Home is coming out, the latest one reveals the comic-accurate costume that Doctor Octopus almost had in the film. Spider-Man: No Way Home wasn't just a big adventure for all the live-action versions of Peter Parkers, but also their iconic villains from the respective franchises.
Spider-Man: No Way Home - The Art of The Movie, which is an upcoming book about the successful Phase 4 film, is coming out in August and contains concept art for various Spider-Man characters. The latest character to have an alternative look revealed this time is none other than Otto Octavius himself, thanks to @SpiderMan3News.
The Spider-Man: No Way Home concept, as shown above, depicts Doctor Octopus in a different costume, but this time resembling more of his comics counterpart, donning his yellow-and-green color scheme. Looking more closely, his costume even features his own logo, which is a clever nod to Spider-Man 2, featuring the fusion reactor.
With that said, Spider-Man: No Way Home was able to find a neat way for Doctor Octopus to get a slightly new look, but by relying on Peter's technology. The scene where Doctor Octopus' mechanical arms manage to absorb parts of Peter's nano-suit was able to visually demonstrate the strength of Otto's equipment.
What remains to be seen right now is what is next for Peter after Spider-Man: No Way Home in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Holland's Spider-Man 4 is in the works, the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are going to make the wait for Peter's MCU return even longer. Hopefully, whatever comes for Peter after Spider-Man: No Way Home will be worth it, especially as he is starting a new chapter after his first trilogy.
