Netflix UK and Ireland users can breathe a sigh of relief, as the global streaming platform has confirmed it won’t be removingThe sitcom follows the exploits of unconventional boss Michael Scott as uses unorthodox and hilarious methods to keep his staff in check, including prankster Jim Halpert .
The American version of comedy-drama was an adaptation of the OG British The Office, created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, with Ricky, 61, playing the inimitable David Brent. UK fans were devastated the show ended after two seasons, while over in the States the mockumentary ran on NBC from 2005 until 2013, spanning a total of nine seasons.
And they were dealt a further blow this week when it was reported the beloved series, which featured everyone’s favourite romance between Jim and Pam Beesly , was being removed from Netflix on January 1. However, Netflix UK and Ireland’s official Twitter account responded to a worried fan on Saturday, who had asked it: ‘@NetflixUK PLEASE don’t take The Office US off please please please!!!!’
