The Hill Country counties have been staunchly Republican for years, and Democrats didn't bother to field a candidate in many races.
Many of the races in two Hill Country counties were effectively settled before Election Day , as Republican s run unopposed. Kendall and Kerr counties will see several new faces on their commissioners courts, but most other races will see incumbents easing into another term. Kendall County Sheriff Al Auxier , the Republican incumbent, was running unopposed in the general election. Auxier was elected Kendall County sheriff in 2012.
Incumbent Republican James Hudson is also running unopposed in the race for county tax assessor-collector. Kerr County Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha, a Republican elected in 2020, was running for re-election unopposed. Republican Tom Jones ran unopposed in the Precinct 1 Kerr County Commissioners Court race. He won the nomination with more than 56% of the vote in a three-way primary, in which he defeated Anne Overby, the incumbent commissioner.
