There will be no school today in Malden and Haverhill as teachers go on strike after union and community leaders failed to reach a settlement, despite talks over the weekend:
Union leaders say the contract talks have broken down because school committee members are not listening to their demands and meeting them in the middle.
Talks are scheduled for Monday morning in Haverhill. In Malden, city leaders are asking for help from a state mediator.With reporting from WBUR's Suevon Lee
