Connor Williams started every game there in 2021 aside from a four-game demotion between Weeks 11 and 14. His replacement, Connor McGovern, failed to capitalize on that trial, prompting coaches to close the year with Williams. “We won’t get into evaluating any of the players in here,” Jones said. “But I will say this: Free agency’s not over. There’s different waves of it. There’s still going to be opportunities to improve different areas of our team other than the draft or college free agency. I think that still can happen and probably will happen.
Too much is at stake. Too many people in the Cowboys’ personnel department work too hard over the course of the year to spill the beans now. Stephen Jones knows better. He answered that question in as reasonable of a manner as could be expected.
