JOHOR BARU: Johor police have denied allegations that some Malaysians returning from Singapore have escaped quarantine.

"We have checked on the matter, and we did not find any individual who avoided quarantine," said Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay."Those with symptoms are sent to the quarantine centres directly, while those without symptoms are told to self-quarantine at home," he said at a press conference at the state police headquarters on Friday .

"The case is being investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act," he said, adding the case has been handed over to Bukit Aman."We are checking whether the individual, who is an MP, is indeed the person behind the Facebook page, or whether it is a fake account using the person's name.

He added that the photos and videos depicting a large number of people storming the Sultan Iskandar Building were taken during a fire drill last year and had nothing to do with recent events.
